January 24, 2007 at 7:34 am #531678The russet is pretty, but compared to the ruby, its so drab and dull. My russet curled is sitting next to my ruby spectral. I like the vibrancy of the ruby better myself
January 24, 2007 at 7:36 am #531679I don’t really. I can just imagine a Russett Emperor!!

Wolfen has a point. Russet is lovely, but it’s almost washed-out compared to ruby. That’s why I think it’s a great color for the coiled, which never came in ruby, but couldn’t compete with ruby on the big sculpts.
January 24, 2007 at 12:28 pm #531681I think the russet is more appealing than the ruby. Ruby looks very monotone, and I think the russet has more depth.
January 24, 2007 at 1:13 pm #531682I like monotone…I like the ruby, and emerald. It’s like Christmas when they are by eachother!!! 😆
But, I have yet to see the russet in person, so maybe I will like it too. Mmmm Monotone… 😆January 24, 2007 at 3:58 pm #531683I think I’d prefer the natural-ness of a russet colour scheme than Ruby, though maybe something with more depth and variety than the actual Russet Curls. I’ve seen several of the Rubies in person, and am frankly not fond of any of them (too bright, and too pinkish/magenta to my eye… and the red eyes along with it, looks like the dragon’s been out partying and drinking too much!). The only one I liked was the Oriental Sun Dragon because it was more subtle in tone. I REALLY want one of those.
But you know, given enough shades and colours you could make a russet-themed colour scheme that might verge on the Autumn Leaf colouration. *hint hint* ;D
January 24, 2007 at 5:10 pm #531684my Ruby Emperor is very pinkish also. I also do not like ot monotone as much asa the russet and gold combination. I bet if you all saw a russett Emperor you would change your minds

Yeah! Another way of hounding for that favorite color. 😀
January 24, 2007 at 6:20 pm #531686we find all sorts of ways don’t we??
January 24, 2007 at 6:23 pm #531687Pah, who needs real gold leaf and obscene numbers of colour layers?? Just get out that gold pen, a few choice shades and get crackin’! ;D
January 24, 2007 at 6:33 pm #531688😆 Autumn leaf was way more work than that – that’s why it’s so special! I really wonder who won it.

They are easy enough to paint, it is just that they are very similar in color to the ruby and flame colors..and not as vibrant as either. I painted these curl dragons like this because everyone liked the one I posted a pic of in my gallery. He happened to be not-quite ruby or flame, so he got called by a different name
