I’m sadly having to part with a member of my small plush toy/art doll collection. This is a Manitouwabing Wurm, custom made and only 1 of 7 ever done in this pattern. Worms and Bones (http://www.wormsandbones.com) took commissions for this design in 2016 as part of their studio sale. This is also the largest piece they’ve ever made, measuring a whopping 40″ long by 22″ wide.

When I commissioned this piece, I requested a color range inspired by oysters – warm gray, gray blue, and pearly white. Worms and bones delivered beautifully! This gorgeous monster has a handpainted head with a jointed mouth. The head is cast in resin from their original sculpture, and features nicely blended metallic paints, inset seed pearls, and silver eyes. The upper body made of pewter gray ‘seal’ faux fur, glossy and thick and soft. The belly is a shorter and more velvety faux fur in a bluish darker gray, with bands of white felt. White and gray felt also makes up the outer edges of the fins, allowing for some really nice detail. That detail especially shows in the wispy seaweed like tendrils at the end of the tail.

My favorite thing about Worms and Bones pieces is a) that they are poseable, and b) how they are made to be poseable. They use plastic ball socket tubing armatures, interlocked in a single support structure from head to tail. The tubing is sturdy and durable, allowing for great flexibility and surprisingly supportive positions. This monster can stand tall with a little bit of its tail curled around for support, hold the mouth open to any chosen degree, and has a great range of motion in the fins/wings. The fins each have a poseable hand with FOUR separate lines of tubing ‘fingers’, so that this monster can grasp, hold, and hang from things! And best of all, the tubing won’t eventually break like wire armature will, so these monsters are made to last.

I’m asking the $400 I originally paid for this piece, plus shipping. I’m located in the US and can ship internationally. Please ask if you have any questions or would like more pictures! I’d like to find this big fella a good new home.
