Hi Everyone – I just wanted to share my good news.  I was fortunate enough to come across a 1987 purple lap dragon, and I was so excited when I received my package from a seller on Ebay, but as soon as I picked up my box I heard a jingle and I knew I was in trouble.  When I opened the box, my poor dragon was in pieces with a broken horn and tail. After reading the forums, I saw the suggestion to use Elmer or Wellbond for repairs.  Well I’m proud to report that after several hours of surgery my lap dragon was successfully made whole again, with the exception of a few chips along his face and tail.  Those pieces had basically disintegrated. So my next question are they are suggestions for types of paint to use to fill in the white spaces?  I love my dragon even though he is battle scarred, but he is still beautiful and I’m glad we had a successful result.  Wellbond is definitely the way to go as it does dry clear and allows you to make adjustments to get the pieces set just right.  My collection now totals six Windstone dragons!

Thats awesome, Melissa!! Congrats on making your girl whole again (sorry to hear she is scarred) I have an old Green male dragon, who fell out of his box after the bulldog chewed a hole for him to slip out of (rolls eyes), but I am fond of him with or without his scars. He is very old.

I got nothing for you with regards to paint, but someone will pipe up and let you know. There are alot of really crafty (and talented) collectors here.

Your number wont stay at 6 for long, btw! 😉 whats your favorite sculpt?  Colour?

Apoxy “clay”  works well to fill voids. You”ll need to paint the white spots with acrylic paint.

My favorite are the dragons by far, and I love the black base coats with purple/blue colors.  I know I’m not stopping at six, lol.  They are just too beautiful and unique.

Hi, Melissa!  Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new dragon!

I have repaired a Peacock Lap Dragon, and started posting about here: https://windstoneeditions.com/topic/new-repair-project-peacock-lap-dragon/  I got sidetracked and never completed the thread, but I’ll try to find my pictures and update with the steps I took.  I used Apoxie Sculpt to fill in the chips, and a blend of acrylic paints to cover the repairs.

It’s the same technique I used on my Emerald Lap Dragon with chipped claws and my Emerald-Peacock Lap with a broken face and wing gouge.  Both those threads have more photos and description, but I will attempt to finish the Peacock Lap thread, too.

              Good luck with your repairs!
