Cool. Yeah more shadows will help. And yes Peg, it was baddly broken and I plan to continue the sorta random spots. I am working on layers…so it’s very time consuming but sooo wonderful to do!

poopOkay so first thing first…
This was a very very broken dragon. She had lost her neck and tail and orb. She glued togeather okay, but have very visible cracks and missing shards that would not fit back in well. So I resculpted those bits and filled in the cracks. But I just could not match the paint….and besides it gave me the excuse to do something I have always wanted to do.

So as you can see I have only just started…but I need some opinions before I get any farther. What do you guys think so far? Advice? I don’t want to finish it and find out that I did something horrible.************************************************

I also think that you can and should be able to repaint stuff that was broken as long as you clearly label that it is a repaint. After all we own them, and we are not tring to resell as real peices. Nor are we making them in bulk, like those German sellers. I think a direct copy is one thing…but painting on some gold accents or using interference is not a copyright thing…after all its in the tutorial on how to paint them.
Using the photo from the SK auction and doing an exact copy…that was the problem.
I plan to keep doing repaints when I get old broken pieces…and as long as I don’t claim they are windstone, nor that I made the sculpture itself, it should be fine. I sold my last repaints with no problem.

It’s a pity my heartfelt intention to pack him “well” couldn’t magically have repaired him enroute, but I appreciate that you appreciated my intentions to make sure no further breakage occured. 😉 It’s a pity so many Windstones that get shipped have people “cutting corners” in packing things securely. 🙁

Amen to that last part! ha! And yes he is already starting a new life! I have glued him…resculpted the broken bits…and started his paint work. Let’s just say there might be something fishy about this new dragon. *giggles*

The majority of the pics actually came from ebay or from Astral Castle. Since we are not claiming to sell these…nor use them for anything but here and for people to admire *and us to admire* I hope its okay. 🙂
I got my dragon from you today. Never have I had a windstone packed so well and still come broken. 😯
Ha! I got the broken oriental and I think it will fix up great. Although just so you know its not the old jade but the emerald version. I love it so much and I can’t wait to start working!
