July 23, 2013 at 12:03 am in reply to: New Aquamarine Fledglings and Maybe Pink? More Griffin Chicks? #900525
Pink, aquamarine, and lavender pearl are by far my 3 favourite dragon colours. I haven’t had the money to get the big guys in LP yet but would definitely go from some fledgie in pink and aquamarine!
I joked about sanding all the sculpted hair off the pyo unicorn and replacing it with real hair… I think that crosses the line of “altering”. I think adding jewels and stuff is fairly common but it’s kind of interesting to see more “custom” pyo’s. 🙂
Pics of my girl Sonnet! She has light lavender eyes and light purple jewels. I love the shading of the pearl into the pink – it has a softness to it that really makes the mane and ends of the tendrils pop 🙂 I wish I were a bigger fan of pink though, heh! She’ll be up for trade…
Ohhh sonnet was my favourite in this batch, love her name too. Didn’t buy one so I have nothibg to offer for trade, but I’m glad you posted photos, she’s gorgeous! 🙂
The price on these, I think, is reasonable for the amount of work that went into them. At a guess, they probably took 3 or 4 times longer to paint than a plainer batch would have.
I’m wondering if maybe some “squeaking” to have the remaining youngs painted in “normal” colors or “low fantasy” is in order? If that happened, maybe they could reduce the price? (I have no idea how possible this is! Just an idea!)
I’d still, honestly, expect the prices to go up significantly due to how long it’s been (nothing costs what it did 2 years ago in the world!), but probably much lower than these super fancy ones! 🙂
I prefer normies to fantasy (appaloosa specifically) and woould looove if they released a $250 normie batch 🙂
If the people who missed out on the last batches could have afforded a $350 purchase, they would probably have purchased one in the two years they were waiting for this batch.
This was what decided it for me, I have bought two second hand youngs, one for $250 and one for $300, and the $300 was one of my top favourites. I couldn’t justify $360 (plus shipping and customs) for an unknown. But I also agree that windstone should charge what they need to! 🙂
I found out about windstones through deviantart, my friend Amanda (the one who makes eyes under Dreaming Treet Studio) messaged me saying that her favourite artist was posting, so I went over to the site to check them out. I thought they were awesome, but didn’t think I could ever afford to own them. The male dragon in particular peaked my fancy.
A few years later, in 2009, me, my mom, brother, and friend were all out garage sailing in the summer and we came across a garage sale with a ton of fantasy stuff. There were kids costumes of dragons and ceramic fountains and such, and a proper handful of windstones. She had some candle lamps and sconces and I saw a few thinking “oh…these are those things…”, picked one up and read the bottom and sure enough, windstones. Several had damage, and I regret to say I left the gargoyle/ candlelamp type stuff behind. However, I did get an emerald old warrior (missing his front feet), an emerald coiled mother (eyelid chip), a peacock male (big wing chip), and an emerald adult oriental (no damage), altogether for a whopping $25. My mom was actually upset at me for buying dragons with damage for so much money, and I tried to subtly explain to her that $25 was CHEAP. Hahaaa… so I ended up with a bunch of gorgeous windstones for next to nothing. After that, I joined the forum, and have acquired quuuuite a few more since then.
So, for example, when you say “horse” it doesn’t necessary have to be a standard horse right? We can think outside of the box….unicorn, Pegasus, etc, as long as it has features of a common “horse”. Correct? I saw someone was asking about birds lol!
That’s a good question! Um, I hadn’t really thought of including unicorns or pegasi as I don’t think of them as horses really. But, a pink horse or a horse made out of a bush or a horse-shaped cloud would be fine.
Let me get a second opinion on the unicorn/pegasus thing and get back to you!
What about lizards or crocodiles for “dragon” or birds (I had chickens in mind) for dinosaur? Not sure if I’m going to go that route or not but figured I’d ask anyway.
Thanks guys! 🙂
April 25, 2013 at 2:46 pm in reply to: 4/9/2013 Natural Grab Bag Baby Unicorn Batch Photo Thread #896434Can anybody tell me what colors the ‘bay’ one are (he looks darker in person, the lighter colors come out in direct light). And what color the pinto one would be?
I’d go flaxen chestnut for the first, although his legs are really dark. So Maybe silver bay? And grulla (or sable champagne?) pinto/ sabino for the second.
April 22, 2013 at 5:20 pm in reply to: 4/9/2013 Natural Grab Bag Baby Unicorn Batch Photo Thread #896333Got mine today! I got a buckskin dapple sabinoey baby with two different coloured eyes! She’s pretty but not what I was looking for specifically so I’ve got a trade ad up for her, check it out if interested: http://windstoneeditions.com/classifieds/trading/wtt-natural-gbb-bi-eyed-dapple-buckskin-sabino-appaloosa-baby-or
Hannah, you can use any of these.
@ senceable – thanks for the link.
Maybe this is a place to post this photo … Adult Tap class just before the 2012 dance recital. We might not fit the DOVE profile, but we are ALL beautiful, and all having a good time! (I’m in back on the left with gray hair and my once a year makeup) 🙂
So cute, you guys look like you’re having way too much fun! 🙂
Someone wrote this blurb up about the Dove video, kinda sums up my feelings, check it out too: http://jazzylittledrops.tumblr.com/post/48118645174/why-doves-real-beauty-sketches-video-makes-me
I don’t mind them not saying the date, but maybe the price? I’m assuming they’ll be over $200 this time but it’d be nice to know how much abouts to set aside, even just a range. 🙂
What about having some extra cut space in the honeycomb around the uni’s head and then wrapping some bubblewrap directly around the horn before closing the insert?
The most popular social blogging site at the moment seems to be tumblr. I use it for artwork and it’s easy to interact with comments, questions, “reblogging”, asks, and users can even submit things to your blog if you allow that option. I don’t know how many other forum members use it though! A facebook page centered around your artwork might be an easier way to go. (The poll you have up isn’t working for me)
