My cats are locked in the bedroom by day and only allowed in the rest of the house when I am home.
Chewy has developed a nasty habit. The cats are not allowed on the kitchen counter, buy Chewy is stealthy. I caught her with her tongue in a pan of white gravy the other day that was in the sink. It had only been there 10 minutes and I never heard her.
Well tonight we had chicken and stuffing. There was a 1/2 piece of chicken breast and stuffing left over in a disposable pan. Well, about 30 minutes after we ate, I threw out the leftovers and walked back in the living room. There was something in front of the dog basket.
I picked up this squishy creamy think, thinking it was a wet piece of rawhide. Now, let me explain, the basket is about 7 feet from me, in my direct line of sight.
The squishy thing was the remnants of the chicken….
She managed to get the chicken out of the pan, bring it right in front of me in the living room, and eat half of it….I thought she was fishing dog toys or cat toys out of the basket.
Then, she came back in the living room and was all indignant, hunting around for her chicken breast…like, why did someone pick it up?
She is so sneaky….she is sooo smart..she has two bells on and I still didn’t hear her….
What a mess! Just thought I would share!
If I had known you wanted one, I have two. One has a large chip on the inside of the holder. I guess once I finally send it off and have it fixed, I should put it in the flea market.
Glad you got one! Happy a forum member helped you out !!!!
siberakh1 wrote:Sorry I didn’t post sooner. I got home at midnight Sunday night/Monday morning and had to work the next day on a swing shift, so I’ve been trying to get caught up at work and dealing with the slightly shifted sleep schedule (and two dogs who missed me tremendously and have been requiring my attention). I’ll get my pictures posted by Saturday night. I can say that I had an absolute blast! The food was absolutely fantastic! A-Bears was by far the best! The hospitality was wonderful. I’ve been sorting through all the beads and stuff I brought back (and I still have more to arrive by mail that couldn’t fit in the luggage). Kaya, my mom loves my bunny and the fancier beads! I also got to see Kaya at work (bad that it had to happen, but still, good to know people were there to help in an emergency – a girl got hurt just before the parades on Sunday). Kaya was a great guide/hostess 😀
Ski, to answer your question: Friday night was supposed to be a large parade (Krewe of Hercules), but due to the weather, it got rained out (they ended up rescheduled for Sunday afternoon directly after the Krewe of Hyacinthians). North of where we were, sleet and hail had been reported 😯 This was after Keschete told me that the signs I saw the day before about bridges possibly icing over was something that happened once every 5 or more years or so (ie. rarely)! The temperature was around 43 degrees F, but the humidity was about 97%! That makes for a cold that just chills you to the bone! The northeast doesn’t get that much humidity usually, and I’m used to walking outside without a jacket in 20 degrees F when I’m home in upstate NY! The next night was a bit chilly, but not as bad. Sunday was excellent weather (I think it reached at least 60). My face was actually a bit pink the next day from all the sun! 😆
Thanks for the kind words…you are welcome to come back next year, as is anyone who want’s to see our cajun culture and a really good time.
The girl who was hit did have a skull fracture, she is in a New Orleans hospital and she is doing well. I talked to her family and she is still slurring her words a bit, but she should make a full recovery. The man had a broken ankle and will also be fine.
You have exactly 30 pounds of beads heading your way. They should be there this Monday 🙂 I left them in the garbage bags and had the UPS store stick them in a box….needless to say, it is a heavy box…
I am glad your mom like the beads 🙂 What did she think of your special Hycinthians medallion?
Hugs, Kaya

Well no one even noticed that you posted this and when I saw something about 1 getting put back I ran to the store and there was one. I do not think I was supposed to buy it from my work computer but I did.
PM me so we can figure out the payment and shipping details etcI actually pm’ed Onyxt that there were more in the store…I almost bought it for Onyxt, but I wasn’t sure. I am glad you got an extra one to share.
I didn’t want to seem like a greedy pig. I got 3 earlier and after I check with the list of people I have agreements with, if no one wants my extra, then I will sell it for $50 plus shipping.
lamortefille wrote:I didn’t see darjeb online, so I snagged her one. If she doesn’t want it or already got one, I will sell it for regular price on here. I already have one. 😀
I did the same thing, I bought 3, I had a deal with darjeb, travistie (who got one) and a few others.
got mine!
Here they are:
Ohh and here is a picture of the Red Fire Old Warrior just FYI:
There is a great sweet dessert wine called Nivoli. It should be available in a grocery store of liquor store.
darjeb wrote:Great pictures. I have always wanted to go to Mardi Gras but never have. I was in New Orleans for a few days about ten years ago and we went over to an island where the floats and other things are built and stored and it was a lot of fun. Do you know if it is still there or did Katrina destroy it?
Hehehe, that isn’t an island…that is Algiers and it is on the westbank of the Mississippi River. The place you went is probably Blaine Kern’s place. He builds floats.
We had a great time, but we were in Houma, not New Orleans. This is a great place to catch beads and eat a lot of great food! Much better and less commercialized and much safer!!!!
Just some info about Katrina:
Houma wasn’t hit directly by Katrina, we were the closest town (60 miles Southwest of New Orleans) that took in evacuees. The people rescued from roof tops, many came here first and stayed in shelters until we could get more permanent stuff set up.
Several weeks later, Rita hit and flooded all of our lower parishes. But, this in not New Orleans and people here took care of themselves and rebuilt with help of friends, family and neighbors.
I won’t get into great detail, but in several areas down here, we told Red Cross to get out…after they arrived a week after Katrina and tried to tell us how to care for the New Orleanians who were under our care. Where I live, people and strong and independant and they usually don’t take kindly to the government interfering 🙂
I took Brianne on a Katrina tour while she was here and showed her exactly what things are like in New Orleans. Once she gets home she might post some of those. There is a lot of progress in the Katrina areas, but that is just a small piece of greater New Orleans area which includes Metarie, Kenner and the West Bank…those areas did not flood and they are booming 🙂

My husband and I adopted a dog last week from the SPCA here in town and brought her home and all the dogs and cats got along great. Unfortunatly she turned and killed my Broozer. He was only 6. My husband turned her back in to the SPCA and they have to put her down. I will miss Broozer always. He was my bud. Rest In Peace Broozer, we miss you and love you.
Ohhh, words can not express how I feel for you. I had a similar situation happen. There are no words that I can say to make you feel better. You did something good for another animal and you paid with the lives of both.
Hugs, and please know that the dog you adopted was unfortunately messed up, probably by some human being. Don’t blame yourself or the dog…it was probably whatever happened to that poor dog, before you offered it a home, that led to this sad loss.
My husband and I purchased a sad German Shepherd pup that lingered for months at a pet store. We thought we could train her. We worked hard to get her adjusted, but in the end she killed a Min Pin and injured another…..and we were scared she would get out and hurt a human child…..we had to have her destroyed….this was 14 years ago and it still lingers in my heart.
I know your are suffering and I hope that you understand that it isn’t your fault and you must move on…and don’t stop rescuing dogs! If you need to talk..pm me…I have been there and there are no words I can give you to make this better! I can only offer a shoulder if you need it!
Dragon Master wrote:I always thought Mardi Gras was in February??
Mardi Gras is actually Feb 5th this year. It can be as early as Feb and as late as March…always 47 days before Easter.
The Mardi Gras season begins on January 6 and continues until Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. On the Christian calendar, the twelfth day after Christmas is known as “Epiphany”, “Twelfth Night”, or “Kings Day.” It is the day the gift-bearing Magi visited the baby Jesus, and is celebrated with its own unique rituals.
In New Orleans, the parades started last week. The parades here in Houma start tomorrow and we are going to be in front of the car dealership that my husband works at. So we should catch a bunch of beads. Two of the salesmen ride in the first parade and I have our friend hooked up to catch a lot of beads!
Hope this helps 🙂 Pictures Saturday !!!

Updated: After I read the whole post, I would agree about the possibility of peanut oil. Children often are allergic to peanuts! That is why many planes don’t serve peanuts anymore.
You need to see an allergist eventually, but your pediatrician is capable of ordering lab work to determine food and environmental allergens via a blood test. It would be cheaper if you got your regular doctor to order a Ig panel before you go to the allergist and the results are quick. You could know what to avoid while you wait to get in to see the allergist.
That’s what many offices do, including me, because sometimes it takes a while to get a specialist. Good luck, feel free to PM me if you have questions.
Original response:
Looks like hives. Many things often never determined cause hives in kids. Viruses are most often the culprit. They actually have a skin breakout in response to the viral infection being killed by the immune system. Give 12.5 mg Benadryl every 6 to 8 hours, some steroids by mouth (from the doctor) for about 5 days.It could be allergic, try to think if she ate peanut butter, nut containing products, certain fruits, it would be something she ate only once or twice before, but not things she only had prior to the outbreak. Allergies to food occur the second or third time they are exposed, not the first time.
Don’t panic, it many last for a week or longer, but it should go away. And don’t stress if you can’t find a cause, most cases are never explained.
I have been a Peds NP and now an ENT NP for over 10 years….this is usually nothing serious….but it would be a good idea to have your pediatrician check her, just to make sure there is nothing more serious going on. It is hard for me to see in the pictures if the rash is raised like a wheal or flat.
Could you describe them?
SOOOO SWEET!
