Welcome! 🙂
I could definitely give the lavender/mauve/pink OW a loving home. I wouldn’t have thought there’d be any unwanted dragons at the factory.
Another option would be to have the participants send a PM to organizer when their piece is ready to mail (including a picture is a good idea too). When the organizer has at least three ready to mail, then they can have those ready to mail, send their pieces to the others that are ready to mail. Having a minimum of three, you won’t have to have straight across swap. When three more are ready to mail, send those names out. This would allow those that got their swap ready to send earliest to get a piece back fairly quickly. If someone needs to drop out, then the organizer doesn’t have to try to re-assign a swap partner. The organizer can still take preferences and try to match them up. And still have mailing deadlines so everyone knows their goal date.
I’ve only been in the forum a few weeks, so I know very little about the PYO swaps. This may or may not have already been tried in the past.
Did he arrive as a repair job, or did you order him new?
It looks like the seller doesn’t know a real Windstone from a fake, because they also have a Mother Dragon listed that looks to be authentic. So, who’s going to email John?
I keep looking at my green in comparison and the paint job is just totally diffrent, from the shading to the where the gold is. My green doesn’t have a felt, but the bottom is stamped with the Windstone logo.
From having poured molds, to me the bottom looks like a casting that hasn’t been cleaned. It looks like the bottom was painted and the high points left on the base are where the paint has rubbed off.

That’s what I was wondering. My green has yellow eyes and the green shading is different. And there’s no Windstone felt on the bottom. My old mother dragon has no felt and the bottom has a cleaner (sanded level) finish on the bottom than this one appears to have.
I would say that knowing more about the artist would definitely have an influence over whether or not I buy their artwork.
Finding out that an artist was an ‘unsavory’ character would definitely turn me against buying their work, even if I really liked it, simply because I’m not about to give my hard earned money to someone, that I feel, doesn’t deserve it.
On the other hand, knowing that an artist is a really cool person, wouldn’t make me buy their artwork if it isn’t something that I would personally be interested in. For instance, I prefer dragons with 4 limbs and 2 wings. If a favorite artist were to draw/paint/create wyverns (2-legged dragons), I wouldn’t buy the artwork ‘just’ because it was done by that artist.
Three feet tall.. It must be breathtaking in person.
I probably couldn’t bear to part with something that took me three years to create. It’s so cool to see the factory. Thanks for sharing the pics! Wow, if relocating was an option, I’d go see if they needed an admin to fetch things for them. 😀 As much as I love just collecting the dragons, the business side of it fascinates me.
I think the problem was when she listed what she had for sale. At first I thought it was because she was offering a discount, but in the past I’m guessing that most actual business transaction (what someone wanted to order, lay-aways, etc)were done via PMs, so there was no ‘commercial advertising’ via the forum. I think in posting what she had leftover from the Con, it just crossed a gray line.
Just my two cents worth.
Beautiful colors! I love the flow of colors.

I’ll just have to keep checking all the doors and walls for a delivery notice. I won’t be home when they try to deliver it during the day.

It looks like the shipping method has changed? Using UPS instead of USPS? I was sure my other ones came by mail.
