Soooo…. I really need a good luck piece… I love the idea of the family and friends thing. But is it only sushie, or can it involve steak? 😛
I’d hate to wonder why it didn’t bring good luck, only to find out it was becuase I wasn’t eating sushie 😆What does Sushi have to do with anything?? I tried raw fish and snails once each and that was enough for me

I’d hate to wonder why it didn’t bring good luck, only to find out it was becuase I wasn’t eating sushie 😆I bought a nice plastic lucky cat that came with a variety of signs that can be taped onto its(her?) paw, so you can customize which fortune you want to beckon! The ones that beckon money hold money, and the ones that beckon family have kittens… I think this must mean that the good fortune needs to see where it is supposed to go, or something like that. So, no, I don’t think this one will work for steak.
What I Know About Happy Cats
Happy Cats came from Japan, and are called “Maneki Nekos” there. The term literally means “Summon/Beckon Cats.” The colors they come in each have their own references: white brings happiness, red wards away evil, gold brings money, and black repels disease. The right paw up invites prosperity and money, while the left paw up brings customers to your business. I’ve found some instances where they reverse the meaning of the paws, I don’t know why. I hadn’t heard that about kids and kittens, thanks Melody! The lucky number is 7 for the Happy Cats, because seven represents the 7 Lucky Gods. A really lucky Happy Cat could have seven kittens or seven gods on it, and sometimes a boat is also referenced. Some Happy Cats are used for couples, while some are used to usher children into the adult world.
Happy Cats work across food groups, cultures, and continents. Realistically, you are supposed to retire them after a few years, and the truly devout even pray to them and leave them offerings. I love Happy Cats and have them in all colors except black and red, but we have a very large red one we keep in front of our front door. I know no one asked, and I don’t want to come across as a know-it-all, but I love Happy Cats and thought (assumed) someone could benefit from this knowledge as some questions were asked in this thread. I didn’t know about the meanings of the different colors either! Knew some of the other stuff but not the colors, or that you should retire them periodically (though I’m not surprised). Thanks for sharing 😀
