I just noticed that the horizontal lines of names of members at the bottom of the Forum page are gone. They showed who has been signed in and how long since they last were seen (within about a 15 hour window), also a count of how many member are active.
5:15 EDT on August 5. I tried both signed in and not signed in, the lines were missing in both options.
Yes, that data is provided by an additional plugin, which I disabled for now as I try to diagnose the forum slowness. I may reactivate it soon. I think the New Topics and Active Topics lists are more to blame for the inefficiency because they have to query a half million forum posts, whereas there are only (!) about 20K members. I may be making some changes to all of those widgets at the bottom of the forum homepage for the next few days. Is the info that’s currently missing stuff that you actively use, or were you just wondering what happened to it? It’s hard for me to know sometimes how much people really use certain things, and that’s a good example.
I’d like to hear from anyone who is inclined to share their forum experience from today forward. I made some changes behind the scenes yesterday, and in my latest testing the forum homepage remains a bit sluggish (though better than before), but the individual forums and topics load fairly quickly. Is this what everyone is experiencing, or are you still finding slowness in the forum beyond the forum homepage? FYI (for those who aren’t aware) this is only an issue when logged in.

I do use it. Partly curiosity – it’s fun to see how many people are “in the room” – but I also track whether people I know are online when a new store item drops. That way I can notify those who may be missing the opportunity to buy something. ** cough ** I also watch to see when Susie pops up so I can run over to the store and check for anything new.
It is possible that most people don’t pay attention. I would be curious to know whether I am an outlier.

I don’t try all of the sub-Forums (or whatever the correct term is) very often, so I’m not sure were all the trouble spots might be. However, for me “Paint Your Own Windstone” gets the most “Bad Gateway” messages when I am logged in.
In fact, I just tried it (again) and got a “Bad Gateway” message (again). 3. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinI have been finding that for a while now, when I post a new topic on the forum, when I press “submit” I get a “bad gateway” notice. I then go back to the forum and have a look, and every time my new topic has been posted to the forum.
If you are posting a new topic and get a bad gateway when you press “submit”, don’t give up right away – go back to the forum and have a look and your topic may already be posted. Clay is aware of this issue and has been trying to resolve it.
On the general display of the forum, I liked it when more active topics showed at the bottom. Now they disappear very quickly.

This happened using Firefox when I was not signed in (not really surprising) and also after I did sign in.
