It’s funny because in English, the expression containing “cat” and “tongue” means a completely different thing than in French. Cat got your tongue? you would say in French “did you swallow your tongue?” whereas in French, you give your tongue to the cat to find the answer.

Okay, I’ve lived almost all of my life in Canada and I’ve never heard that phrase before…weird.
