Been twice. My family went to Florida the first time when I was six. We hit Disney World, Sea World and Daytona.
The second time was (dare I date myself?) when I was 13. Not been back since. I was three hours away from it in 2002 when I went to Raleigh, NC for an interview at a vet clinic, but was so exhausted and had to drive to Charlotte the same day that I didn’t make the trip. I would’ve had to drive six hours instead of three.
Ah well. Eventually! Until then I’ll have to settle for Crab Orchard lake and the Mississippi river.

I may make her take me to the beach for a few minutes though. Haven’t seen the ocean in 13 years. ;P Being stuck in the midwest has it’s disadvantages.
I don’t think I cold live anywhere w/o an ocean near.
Maybe it’s because I’m a CancerJanuary 9, 2008 at 5:00 am #646714OK, so who lives in or around San Jose? It appears that at the last minute my friend is going to have to split a day before I’m going to leave to go back to St. Louis.
So I’m gonna have a day to myself, and if one of y’all that I know lives around there and is off Monday the 21st, lemme know.
January 9, 2008 at 6:07 am #646715Have fun, Rusti. I’m sure you’ll manage the airports fine. 😆
January 9, 2008 at 4:58 pm #646716Sacramento isn’t exactly close to San Jose (about two hours’ drive), but I am off the 21st (unless something really bizarre happens). But I’m sure there’s a Forum member in San Jose itself. Wish I could remember who!
January 9, 2008 at 7:23 pm #646717I don’t want anybody to go out of their way, since I’m sure I’ll have homework to work on, I’ll have my computer and the hotel has wifi. I was just curious!
January 9, 2008 at 7:28 pm #646718Isn’t Leigha in San Jose? I grew up there but am in Idaho now *where it’s STILL snowing and now we are under an avalanche watch * Hope you have fun Rusti! If you have time, you might want to visit the Winchester Mystery House. It’s a very interesting place!

January 9, 2008 at 7:35 pm #646719We’ll see. I’m only there for the weekend, so I unfortunately don’t have a lot of time to do things. My friend, her family and I are supposed to go do touristy things Sunday.

that sounds right to me!! I’m pretty sure it is her. Koishii is about 1 1/2 – 2 hours awayJanuary 9, 2008 at 8:09 pm #646722A lot of airports have websites with interactive maps of the terminals. Some of them even show the shops, and you can figure out where to spend extra time from there. I hate to fly, so I try to be as comatose as possible. I take some Dramamine before going and usually sleep right through. Good luck!
January 9, 2008 at 8:31 pm #646723the San Jose Airport is still a mess. They are finally building it up to be a major city airport. In Septmeber my friend and I left San Jose to got o Alaska and when we departed and landed we has to walk on teh runway to get the plane. I hope they can get the new airport operational soon
January 9, 2008 at 8:55 pm #646724*chuckles* I’m sure I’ll survive one way or the other. Things work out, regardless. 🙂
