If Windstone uses a second chance offer through ebay, they don’t have to do it outside. It jsut automatically goes to the next lowest bidder. I have had this happen on more than one occasion on there. But, it has to be offered through ebay for any of the insurance through ebay to be in effect. (This includes paypal ins.) 😀
It was pretty cool when I got to do it. 🙂

I think you mean next highest bidder not lowest bidder

I would still say call Windstone on those 2nd change offers. They will be able to confirm that they where the one to actually sent it out. As several of you know the 2nd chance offers are a new way to scam the buyers

I have actually had an encounter, as a seller, where someone hacked an account in order to try to scam me into western unioning them money…so I am very suspicious….

What’s bad about sending Western Union? Well other than the seller could run off with the money, but if you were the seller……*confused*

I was wondering why the castle was going so high! Good luck, Kes, I hope you can get it all settled *sends positive vibes*

Because most money scams are done through “Western Union.” I put Western Union in quotes, because it’s really not them. It just looks like them. People send a “Western Union” money order for more than the amount, then they want you to send the item and the extra cash back. Then you find out later that the money order is fake and you’re out the money and the item. Be careful of buyers who would like to pay extra and have you return the extra cash to them. It’s always a scam.

I believe in this case that eBay is completely nuking the auctions so that there is no auction to even send a second chance offer on (otherwise they probably would). That’s why instead of the ‘auction closed’ screen with the auction & pictures we get the screen with the message that eBay pulled the listing. 🙁

I will probably have to wait until Monday when John or Karen come in. I am hoping that I can work something out directly. I am more than willing to buy the Castle from them. But I guess it will be up to Windstone….

John and Karen both emailed me today and they are letting me purchase the Castle of the Hawks for the highest bid prior to the interference.

Thanks to them I will be getting the Castle next week, because I usually use UPS, which takes a week.

I think this was great, because the bogus bid did not stop Windstone from selling the castle and it didn’t stop me from buying it. So this creep didn’t really accomplish anything.

Hopefully they will find and prosecute the creep who keeps trying to mess up these auctions. I also hope that those of you bidding on these special pieces do not have this happen to you and I hope it stops happening to Windstone.
