The jar belongs to Kade. He is carrying it in page 85 and puts it down before pulling the hidden handle. Presumably the jar goes into the water when Kade does. It is floating near shore in page 87 (before the boom).
This is the “providence jar” that Kade and the girls set out to hide because the king has forbidden it. I guess we are finding out why!
