The Veligent – page 79

Doing a page in color about doubles the amount of time it takes to do a page. This is not going in the right direction! I want to get FASTER at it!
Of course individually coloring a couple dozen poads does take time, and they won’t be on every page,so there is still hope. I now understand the allure of “cell shading”.

Thanks to my son, Griffin, for researching photoshop info and coloring a few poads for me while I did laundry!

Monday Sept. 9
No way am I going to be able to get page 80 posted today, but I’ve got the line art finished… all I gotta do now is the color. I’ve been watching tutorials about coloring comics in Photoshop and I think I got the basics now!
It shouldn’t take me as long to color page 80 as the last 2 pages did, since I see how to do it quickly, though now I am going to need to color it in CMYK as well as RGB color mode.
( CMYK is for art you plan to print, RGB is for displaying online)
We’ll see what happens.

The Veligent is so wonderful Ms.Melody.I look forward to the next installments. You know, every other week would make it easier on you and we aren’t going anywhere.I hope…
It is a shame we couldn’t help you in some way.

Thank you Bodine! I guess this is just gonna take the time it takes, and there’s nothing I can do to speed up the process other than learning to be more efficient at it … like not making hundreds of mistakes that need to be fixed…I send most of my time undoing stuff.

    It looks beautiful! 😀

In color or in black & white, I really, really always look forward to the next page!

    “… would have been easy…”

Crap, did it again. I meant “would’ve”. Sounds exactly the same.
Honestly, the real world is too complicated for me.

I may be the only one who prefers black and white, but I actually like some of the intricate black and white drawings better than these colored ones. Of course, I also prefer black and white photos and like movies in black and white … (Could you guess that we had a black & white TV when I was growing up ?)

I prefer black and white ink drawings, but I don’t really like those digital shaded greys I have become addicted to using. I may as well use color if I’m going to do that.

I can see why you wouldn’t yell “Hey! Anybody sitting on a white egg?” unless you were certain there was at least one white egg in the room. (And even then, if all the poads just answered “Yes”, you wouldn’t be any closer to finding the egg).

“Who is sitting on a white egg?” seems as though it would be a safe and helpful question to ask.

Yes! Excellent! I meant to thank you for this link on DA. Thank you!
    I shall use it.

OMG!!! The zoomed in picture of the pudgy cuddle poad!!! “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!!”

Sometimes I wish I could zoom in on these pages to take in all those gorgeous little details you have in there.

    Also “Could have just yelled”.

The resolution of these pages is really low. It kills me that a lot of the detail is not visible! But then, my sloppy line work and mistakes aren’t as noticeable either.

We need a ‘view larger version’ button. 🙂

Also, with many comics there’s a button for ‘first’ and ‘last’ pages so folks who’ve kept up just hit the button that says last to check for updates.

I really love both the b&w and the color versions of the comic pages. I see what you mean about the grey, after going back to look a bit.

    Can’t wait to see it!
Glad the tutorials helped and I’m sure that while doing the coloring twice may be a pain, in the end it should be worth it! 🙂

Just got caught up on ten pages or so–Melody, the color shading on these last two is stunning!

Maybe the answer “not me” is just as bad as “no”
