Just wanted to drop by and give a little update. The past year I’ve been in school. I decided my job wasn’t a place I could see myself in 20 years, so I went back to school in late August to become an X-Ray tech. I had tried to get into classes for this before but unfortunately when I was 18-21 (I’m 28 now) I was un focused and not as dedicated as I needed to be, and my grades reflected that and I was not let into the Radiography programs. I got lucky and someone gave me a chance-now I’ve got all A’s…and maybe 1 “C”. (the skull is a BEAST to learn!) and I also still work full time…45+ hours a week. I’ve managed to make time for my wonderful boyfriend but not much else. I’ve pretty much put my WHOLE LIFE on hold to go back to school. Well, after all that hard work, I’ve got 7 DAYS left!! I’m not entirely out of the woods because I still have to complete 600 hours on an Externship and pass the state board exam, but at least when I leave my extern site for the day, I GET TO GO HOME!! As it is now, I’m up at 6AM, at work by 7, I leave by about 4:30/5PM and rush over to my school, 30 minutes away until 9:50PM. Then it’s another 30 minute drive home, and I get there around 10:30PM, go to bed, check the internet, PTFO (Pass the F Out) stir and repeat. Ugh. These 16 hour days are killing me. Actually…I have 6 days left. I requested off work this Friday because I have barely used any vacation days and initially I thought I had to use ’em or lose ’em (not the case as I found out) so I’m using the time to get my hair dyed and have lunch with an old friend.

Today when I got home, the most beautiful dragon was waiting for me 🙂

I adore this color. One day I’m going to have the whole family in this color. She matches my scrubs nicely 😉

      She takes mirror selfies too

Congratulations! I’m always super impressed with people who go back to school while they work. That is SO HARD! And you have to be passionate as well as dedicated to manage it. Kudos to you! I wish you luck on your exam when it comes up. And on a side note, congratulations on the pretty dragon acquisition.

Good on ya Wolfen! Lots of HARD work in a fairly short time! I’m continually amazed by the intellect and talent of our Windstone Family and good, hard work ethics as well! World can’t be too bad a place when you can find a group like us standing strong and positive! Excellent job, Wolfen and major congrats!

Another little update! I finished my externship hours (600 of them! Phew! As of February 2, 2015 after TOO many years, I am a college graduate!! *happy dance* I left my job at the warehouse on Sep. 20 and I haven’t had a real paycheck since then. Thank HEAVENS for my tax return, and thank HEAVENS that I’m in school. Being able to deduct my college expenses got me 5 times what I would have gotten otherwise. I’ve been living off that money the last few weeks, and selling stuff on ebay to get by. I’ve done pretty well-but it sucks depending on ebay to eat and put gas in the car.

Well I had two interviews-one of them was about 30 miles away. I would have taken it but…damn that’s far. It would have been for a traveling x-ray tech, so on the upside I could deduct my gas and such. As soon as I got back from that interview, I had another lady call me. I interviewed twice with her and went in for 2 days of training. She told me she is going to offer me the job tomorrow!! It’s not official yet but I’m so excited! That good ebay money has run out. I’ve got less than $10 to my name currently, so it’s just in time. This place is RIGHT down the street from my house-I don’t have to mess with any freeways, and as I found out last week, an old high school buddy works at a store next door as a manager so we can probably do lunch together. I still have to pass the big state exam but, I am an LMRT! 😀

But on the down side, after being at my last job over 2 years, now I’m new again and have to go through that awkward new phase where you don’t know what to do or say and end up standing around looking at the walls trying to remember what to do. The actual taking of x-rays-I got that 8) but at this place, they want me to do medical assistant (MA) duties too like taking blood, testing for the flu, giving injections, triage etc. I can do that, I’m just not real confident with it-so I get to practice that too, plus doing all the front end paperwork. I’m excited! Now once I start getting a few paychecks in, I can start saving up for my own house with my significant other, and take care of some dental issues I’ve had for months but haven’t been able to afford to do. I feel like my dreams are within reach now!
