So this question is for those of you who have shipped empty Windstone boxes so that your items can be shipped back to you safely:
How do you send the boxes: do you double box, single box, use packing material, anything else that I should be aware of?
I was thinking that a box could be shipped as is, except maybe make sure that it was filled with something light, like styrofoam or packing peanuts, so that there was no empty space inside to weaken it.
What do you think?
September 5, 2011 at 8:51 am #855432I’ve never done it but heard you’re supposed to double box it so it doesn’t get dented 🙂

September 5, 2011 at 3:45 pm #855445I send the original box for the item you won and also send it in either the second box that the original box came in or find the second box and place the original box in the second box and fill it and the space that is in the original box with popcorn. I’ve NEVER had a piece come back broken.
In fact, I have a person that is waiting for my male unicorn box to return and will be sending it and the mother and young box to her and they will all go in one box. The extra postage that it takes to get the original boxes is way worth the price of reciving your item in one piece. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!! :((
Hope this helps!!!

September 5, 2011 at 4:03 pm #855448JUST the empty box? Well, it does seem a little silly but think about this:
1. So you are sending an empty box for that the piece you bought so that it can be shipped back safely to you. This happens with emperors a lot. If you ship the box within another box, it makes it that much easier for the seller to just put the windstone inside and ship it off again. They are far more likely to double box and follow your instructions if you supply them with both boxes! If you send just the inner box, they might send it back like that. It’s happened before…
2. So you are selling an empty box to another person that wants one. I know if I paid for a box + shipping (sigh.. buying a piece of cardboard…) that I’d probably be a little cranky if it arrived all dented up and with the outside wear and tear that boxes get when shipped. May as well double box it and charge appropriate shipping.

It’s actually a buyer who’s sending me a box so that I can ship them the OW that they bought from me. And they were asking how they should send it.
I think that they decided to send it double boxed, so it should be safe.
September 5, 2011 at 10:37 pm #855483I’m going to add that every time I’ve shipped an empty box, I wrapped it in craft paper.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

So the kitty will be shipped out safely . And used all the packing peanuts that came with it . Second time I’ve got an empty box . Funny to lift a box so light . lol
September 8, 2011 at 8:56 pm #855810I have only sent one box to a seller and it was for an old green emperor which I definitely didn’t want broken so I sent the box within another box with all the necessary packing for the return.

Ditto. I did the same thing for my old green emp. Worked like a charm, plus I had my own piece of mind knowing I’d done everything I could to ensure he arrived safe.
September 10, 2011 at 6:56 pm #856069I sent a riser box to someone selling a riser. I loosely doubleboxed it, since I wasn’t getting the dragon I didn’t need to ‘set an example’ but wanted my box back sound. 0.0 that it cost over $12 to send this empty-except-for-inserts box only 100 miles.
September 10, 2011 at 7:05 pm #856073I’ve shipped emperor and OW boxes all over the freakin’ world it seems like. I usually ship the box by itself and dont double box it. But I’m also VERY clear with the people selling me things about double boxing and those kinds of things. I have never had a shipping accident with any item I shipped a box to someone for. Did it for Rainbow, Old Green, and Old Brown Emps. Rainbow, Old Brown OWs and a Ruby oriental sun.
