Has anyone seen the ” black ” Gothic unicorn on Ebay? The seller does note
that it is repainted. What do people think of it? I like it! I wish Melody would cast some more
of them and paint them in black and different colors. squeek*April 23, 2010 at 2:52 pm #500635April 23, 2010 at 3:04 pm #812520I saw that as well. And I actually DO like the black repaint of it. Very much, in fact.
April 23, 2010 at 4:18 pm #812521Ya know, That’s not good if Melody was planning a black gothic. :negative:

I didn’t think of it that way. Besides, as much as I like the color scheme, I wouldn’t buy it. I’ll just wait for Melody to do it if she wants to.
April 23, 2010 at 4:28 pm #812523Well, repaints are kinda frowned upon anyway. Personal and not to sell it is one thing. To sell it on ebay is pushing it. This one and the mom uni I sent to John.

Good to know. I will keep an eye out for that from now on.
April 23, 2010 at 6:47 pm #812525I’m going to find some light in this auction.
The gothic unicorn clearly has a male sheath and this person is calling it female XD Talk about oblivious! On the other note, I’m not sure it’s “illegal” to repaint and sell them… I mean, PC was asked not to because she was doing it in such high amounts, but I don’t think ws can prevent it from ever happening. And we see repaints quiet often on ebay… just comes with the territory, I guess π
But it is bad if Melody wanted to paint one black. Although, I don’t think they would look the same, it could cause a problem.April 23, 2010 at 6:49 pm #812526If Melody and John have a black line and it’s copyrighted then there is a problem with the black. Who’s to say the buyer won’t resell and tell the story like this person did? Fraud?

Well, tell us what is said about it. I’m curious. Because I remember reading something here that it’s either not illegal, or they can’t prevent people from making repaints. It’s “frowned upon”. And frowning upon isn’t illegal.
Not defending this auction person, just recalling what I have read.April 23, 2010 at 7:06 pm #812528me thinks copyright law is a pain. π Here’s another angle..could Windstone get in trouble now for doing a black line if they don’t already have one? π I’ll let you know what I hear.
April 23, 2010 at 9:48 pm #812529Well as of right now I think Melody has only said she would maybe do them in black if she can get the mold working again. That person probably isn’t a forum member and doesn’t know that so it doesn’t seem like they could be copying anything. Even if they did know that there hasn’t been any produced to copy yet. I’m not defending them either, but I will say it does look really good in black and I hope Melody does do them. squeek* π
April 23, 2010 at 10:14 pm #812530Hmm. c.c @ those repaints
April 23, 2010 at 10:33 pm #812531No one owns a copyright for the color black… or for black unicorns for that matter… so I see no reason why she couldn’t. π Plus, Windstone already has a line of black unis (and owns a trade dress).
April 23, 2010 at 10:50 pm #812532Well I personally think it’s wrong. Not so much repaints for personal stuff, but for reselling on ebay. I’m gonna wait for Mel. π
