Surely, I do not.
Looks like my wildlife work has caught the attentions of the Department of Fish and Game. This fall, I will be kicking off my Master’s Thesis by rounding up some Pronghorn Antelope and fitting them all with GPS collars, and some with telemetry collars. The recent tragic events involving five pronghorn that were poached – nine if you count the twins inside each of the does – has generated a lot of interest in these wily sage-goats.
In short, I will get to run around in the sagebrush, tracking wildlife, acting like a loon. My usual bit. Except this time, I’ll have something cool to show for it.
Could this get any better?
Actually, yes.
I’ve been hired out to the Forest Service this summer to go hooting for Northern Spotted Owls, and calling Northern Goshawks – ironically in the same position (different ranger district) as my boyfriend.
…In short. That makes him and I a pair of hooters hired by the Forest Service.
Things are most certainly looking up.
Many goals. Many paths. Two jobs. One mind.
Stay tuned. Pictures to follow on Friday of Pronghorn, and other wildlife here at the wildlife area.
EDIT: Here you go!

April 27, 2009 at 12:27 pm #761548Hahahaha! That owl is precious! He’s like… Ms. DarkZorse, where is your homework? I don’t think I’ve heard “The pronghorn took it” before.
Congrats on the thesis. Mine was in literature, so I just got to tag and study the migration habits of a student from the library to her desk at home.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

What sort of Cranes are those? Ours are Sandhill’s and they are all twitterpated at the moment and very, VERY loud… We have no need for alarm clocks at the moment; the wildlife takes care of that! Lovely pix!
