Uh, hi.
I’m in college learning to fix instruments. In my free time (yeah, right) I’ve developed a new hobby: Instrument Statues.
Here’re the three I’ve done so far.
Clarinet Cat #1 – debuted in AC08’s Art Show and won the Art Director’s Honorable Mention
Sold on the seventh bid, too! *glee*
Brass Bouquet #1 – created and donated to WITCC’s Administrative office in trade for free run of the instrument “bone yard” for my projects. WOOT!
Trombone Bird #1 – Going to debut at this year’s AC Art Show. Wish me luck! So… *heh* Whaddaya think? 😀

April 3, 2009 at 3:17 am #758925How cute are those!!! The clarinet cat and trombone bird are perfect for our family; Sean plays clarinet and Ethan plays trombone! I know the sculpts prolly wouldn’t be able to stand up to the weather around here, but boy would they make darling garden art… 😀

April 3, 2009 at 1:08 pm #758927I love that trombone bird! 😀 I hope it does well!
April 3, 2009 at 1:10 pm #758928That is so cool! We still have hubby’s hich school band trombone (he graduated in 1997) that we are still trying to figure out what to do with (he doesn’t play any more).

April 4, 2009 at 1:59 am #758930Great stuff! Reminded me of a violinmaker’s website that I had come across a while back. Take a look. (and scroll down to the pics.)

Very cool!
I hope it’s not considered stealing his idea? I didn’t even know that website existed until now. Incredible artwork and beautiful detail.

April 4, 2009 at 3:47 am #758932Really cool! I love the clarinet cat – he is too cute. I can see why he sold. Good luck in the art show! Let us know how you do – plus I would love to see more of your pieces!

Thanks!
I need to *make* more pieces, but when I do I’ll post pics here. Right now, my instructor has me back on fixing instruments, so I’m working on a saxophone and refinishing a bassoon (class project) while there’s a flute waiting for my care on the desk. *sighs* 🙂
