It seems like a lot of people are going through some hard times right now. Either from the loss of a loved one, or a bad relationship.
I thought it would be nice to start a thread to commemorate the good things or something you are proud of. Post your favorite drawing or poem if you want. It could be just something that made you laugh today, or something you think makes you different. I’d like to let people see the good things that are happening around us!Me. I’m proud of the fact that I have completed two families via surrogacy. I just got more picture of the two little boys I carried for some dear friends, and I’m getting ready to go to the other little boy’s sister’s birthday. I love the fact that I changed the lives of so many people.
I never got to be a rocket scientist, but I have truely changed the world! Now you…

I am so proud that I am a teacher. It’s a very hard job, and I really respect everyone in that profession, and it’s a little boost to me to know that I’m a part of educating our youth.
I’m also so proud of my husband. He is such an amazing person, and very strong despite physical limitations – he’s my inspiration and my rock.
I’m also very proud of my writing. I’m going to host a creative writing club this year for the students at my school, and we’re going to do NaNoWriMo – and I’m going to complete it! (I’ll be posting more about that in a few month’s time, if anyone else wants to participate with me! But I won’t hijack this thread for that. *grin*)
June 12, 2008 at 1:20 am #713093I wish I had something good to talk about 😥 This year is the most awful yet.
The only thing good that has come out of what it happening is my family has gotten a bit closer… I’ve spent time with my grandma who I never see anymore since she’s in another state and doesn’t like traveling… but she came out for support and stayed with us for a couple weeks (even if I was annoyed that she was afraid of my ferret… or rather, ALL our animals).
On such horrible conditions, my family got closer. I’ve never seen so many cards before in my life… not even in the card sections of stores.June 12, 2008 at 1:21 am #713094Teachers are definately special people! I think they don’t get enough credit for the job they do! Not enough pay and some of the crap you have to deal with! What is NaNoWriMo?

June 12, 2008 at 1:29 am #713096😀 NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. http://www.nanowrimo.org/. A man named Chris Baty came up with the idea in 1999. The basic premise is to get as many people as possible to write a 50,000 word novel in a single month’s time. It happens every November, and thousands of people sign up to try and write a rough draft of a novel in 30 days.
It relies largely on a network of people encouraging each other to keep at it, even when the book is stagnating, or your enthusiasm is flagging. I thought it might be fun to try and get some Windstone Forum members to do it with me, so we can keep each other motivated!
I’m also going to encourage my students to give it a shot, as well. They have a fabulous young writer’s program.
I’ll probably start organizing in September, so if you’re interested look for a post from me around that time!———–
*hugs Kujacker* I’m sorry it’s been such a rough year, but I’m glad you’ve grown closer with your family.
June 12, 2008 at 1:30 am #713097I’m proud that I can help people at work. I work at a Vet clinic.. I’m always helping people with their dogs or cats. Occasionally we get a reptile.. which is my specialty. I’ve been there so long that I’m knowledgeable enough to offer more comfort and support when clients need it. I also get to have a hand in life-saving surgeries and treatments.
I pet-sit on top of working full-time. It makes me feel good that I can help families spend more time together on vacation. A bonus for them is not worrying about their beloved pet(s) while they are gone.
I’ve also been helping my parents remodel the house. My dad has had two detached retinas (One in each eye). So he doesn’t see as well as he used to.. and my mom isn’t very physical, so it’s hard for her to do any physical labor. I’ve been painting and moving heavy furniture for the past several weeks. And there’s much more to come!
One more thing… I’m proud of my boyfriend. He works so hard every single day of his life. And he never complains when something bad or unfortunate happens to him. He just takes it in stride and hopes for a better day. He’s an awesome person and I’m glad that one day I’ll spend the rest of my life with him 🙂
Sappy time over! lol
June 12, 2008 at 1:32 am #713098There you go, spoiling everyone’s perfectly bad mood! 😆 Good job Phoenix!
Proud of? Hmm… perhaps getting into NAIT! Err… it’s a school for those who didn’t read where it was before, I guess that’s something good that came out of doing poorly at the UofA….
I’m proud of my fiancee!!!! He’s been really supportive through what was a really tough year last year – with me being diagnosed with diabetes (he’s still mad at Ryan for not calling him- he was 5 hours away but says he would have come – I believe him), my grandfather being diagnosed and dying of lung cancer… I would have probably gone mad without him, I’m so glad I have him around.
Other then that… I dunno I suppose I’m my hardest critic sometimes! 😆
June 12, 2008 at 1:43 am #713099I would love to work in a vet clinic! Though Mike says I would most likely get too depressed and bring home too many critters! It’s great you can support people when their “family members” are sick.
I’d be interested in doing the writing thing, but I have very litte writing talent! I want to tell the story to someone and someone can write it for me! 😆
It’s great you all have supportive SOs! It is truely a gift!
School for me was the most difficult thing to do, so I totally get being proud of doing it! Kudos!
June 12, 2008 at 1:44 am #713100I’m proud of my husband. As most of you know he’s been deployed with the Army to Iraq since early May of last year. Well the deployment is FINALLY coming to an end and he’ll be home before I know it.
I’m also proud of my son. He may have been a pest a times, but what can you expect from a preschooler. He’s FINALLY showing interest in being potty trained and as long as he is “bare butt” will actually use his potty chair. (This only happened in the last week, by the way.) If this keeps up he should be potty trained with underwear by the time Daddy gets home.
And it might sound goofy, but I’m proud of myself for “surviving” while my husband was away for the second deployment. Sure I had a few times where I broke down. Sure I haven’t gotten everything done that I wanted to do while he was gone. But, I did get our credit card completely paid off (~$5,000) and we currently have ~$8,000 in savings (at this moment, it will be more by the time he is home), something we haven’t had in our nearly 5 years of being married.
June 12, 2008 at 1:45 am #713101Hmmm… I’ve held the same job for 14 years and am working towards a great retirment benefit because of it. I am also proud that I got my associates degree. 😀

Pegasi, that’s not goofy at all. I have so much respect and admiration for the spouses and family members of people overseas. I can’t even imagine what it must feel like.
And paying off credit cards and saving in the process? Good for you!

It’s hard for a lot of people who work there… mainly when an animal needs to be put down. It’s difficult to realize that they are going to a better place because they are too ill. But no one who works there has a stone heart, that’s for sure!

Yay Peg! It’s so hard to pay off debt. That’s a great thing to be proud of.Not to mention, it’s hard to live without your second half. Especially when you’ve got a little one running around.
June 12, 2008 at 1:57 am #713104Peg, to take care of your son alone and juggle bills and having your husband gone is a great acomplishment! Potty training is stressful!
Ski, I’m with you! I’ve been at my job for 13 years, though I can’t say I have very good retirement prospects!
