They just put in a new policy at work that we can NOT use the internet unless it is for fire department purposes. That means no email, no google, no nothing. I’m upset because thats all I had to pass the time at work in between calls. Now I have to fight my partner for the remote or else I’m stuck watching Jag reruns 😥

March 11, 2008 at 11:55 pm #677039That’s lame! Did someone abuse the internet right at work to spoil it for the rest of you? We can’t do internet at my work either. We once got a virus, luckily it wasn’t too bad.
March 11, 2008 at 11:58 pm #677040There is some kind of sex scandal going on (I don’t know much about it because I haven’t been at work in 7 weeks). From what I hear that is the cause of all this but I think viruses play a part in it too.
March 12, 2008 at 1:22 am #677041That sucks!

March 12, 2008 at 2:08 am #677044We can’t use the internet at work either. luckily I work 5 minutes away from where I live…1 hour lunch breaks give me time to come home and get online for a few.
My most wanted list: Peacock kitty wizard, carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties
March 12, 2008 at 9:34 am #677045I’m so used to being able to surf the net at work 🙁 I guess its a good thing I can’t do it anymore. I was known thruout the county as Mustang Sally because I would spend all day on a mustang message board.
March 12, 2008 at 10:26 am #677046We can only use the internet on our breaks, but you have to jockey for a computer. I read a book instead.
March 12, 2008 at 2:45 pm #677047Fortunately, no one cares what I do in my office, as long as I’m prepared for class and grade my papers in a timely fashion. I HAVE to be in my office at least four hours per week for the students, and usually I’m there more than that — it’s easier to get things done than at home. So if I’m all caught up with work, and no students come in, I just go online. Teaching is good. 😀
March 12, 2008 at 4:05 pm #677048*laughs* I used to be lucky if they let me take a bathroom break at work!! I was so busy busting my rump that I’d come home and collapse and cry sometimes. I don’t miss working retail.

Yeah, tell me about it. I used to work grocery while in college. They would try to cheat you out of breaks and lunch, and not pay you if they thought they could get away with it.

Honestly, how cheap can employers get? 🙄
I have full access to the Internet. I really shouldn’t be on, but if I need a break from intense stuff, that’s where I go. Like right now!
