Hello all! My name is Heather and I’m an addict…ha ha!
I have literally been a Pena fan for life. When I was a child there was a unicorn print hanging in my bed room that I adored. Later in my teen age years I visited my grandparents in Oregon, went to the mall in Portland and caught my first glimpse of Pena’s Windstone Edition Sculptures and fell in love. I could never afford them so I literally collected the little brochures they released for the dealers. Then I found a full page advertisment for the Peacock Emperor and have kept that clipping for years.
Seven years I asked my parents every Christmas and Birthday for a Windstone Edition and every year they gave me some cheap resin knock off. Don’t get me wrong, I was greatful for my gifts. They were pretty and some were even more expensive but none were a Pena. One year I was helping to clean my parent’s room and came upon that same print hanging in my child hood bedroom and I thought, “My god, it’s a Pena!” Dated 1981…
This year my sweet darling husband gave my a hatchling for Christmas and a Fledgling for my birthday which is in the same week. So I finally decided to join the forums. Melody’s work has literally been with me my whole life, she has had such an influence on me, expecially as an artist.
So now that I myself am an artist and a certified framer, I rescued the print from my parents clutches to have it professionally framed and preserved.
Is their anyone who can help me identify this work, find out it’s history, value, edition, etc.? I wish I could talk to the artist herself, but I figure she is probibly too busy and I don’t want to bother her.

January 1, 2008 at 2:57 pm #651200Welcome to the forums!! I would love to see pics of the print. After you post 5 times you will be able to link us a pic. Do you paint the Windstone paint your owns (PYOs), by any chance? I bought one a while back from a woman named Heather. 🙂

You’d be surprised, Melody takes time to respond to us all the time. There is an “Ask Melody” and she does check it and she does answer. One of the things I really love about her is that she is down to earth and hangs out with us here on the forum.
So once you’re able to post pics, ask her about the print, betcha she’ll answer you.
Anyway, welcome to the forum, you may only have 2 sculptures now, but this forum is an enabler, before you know it, your collection will grow.

Why not post this question in the “Ask Melody” section? She is busy but I think it’s very safe to say that she loves interacting with her fans and enjoys answering what questions she can. It might take a day or 5 but she should have an answer for you! 🙂

You’ll be surprised at how fast your collection will grow now that you’ve joined the forum. Good thing for Windstones, not such a good thing if you’re on limited funds.

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
