Today we added the Lap Dragon in Violet Flame to our store. This is her debut, and I think she looks really good. http://windstoneeditions.com/products/lap-dragon-violet-flame I can picture her settled on the hearth, next to the cat…
You will note that she has the gold plated pewter horns, reflecting the fact that we’ve made a step in the direction of solving our horn dilemma! We are not entirely done having technical difficulties with them and so will just have a few small batches of items with gold plated pewter accessories. We will make some Scratching Dragons to match these ladies, and then another batch or two of another color. And we have some Mother Coiled Dragons in Emerald-Peacock coming up – contentedly coiled around their golden eggs.
Just curious… is there a reason why shes limited production vs. A regular production? I thought Violet Flame was going to be a new production color?

I’m so happy to hear that you’ve made progress on the gold horn issue. Does this mean that we will get amethyst or copper patina scratchers at some point? Or new test paints for Ebay? Honestly, I’m just pleased as punch at the prospect of any new scratching dragons. 🙂
The current batch of the Lap Dragon in Violet Flame is “limited production” because it is small, it may be a long time before we make more of them, and because this batch was more costly to produce than Lap Dragons have been in the past. We might change it to “production” status later on, if we can produce them in larger quantity. The upcoming Scratching Dragon in Violet Flame will also be “limited production”.
I’m not sure what other colors are going to be made using our current small supply of horns (I think rainbow is a possibility). Be sure to go to the “postponed production” category to find the out of stock Lap Dragons and press the “notify” button to be emailed when the color you desire is restocked.
MUST CORRECT MYSELF! We are not making any more Lap Dragons in the near future – we are making some Scratching Dragons. I’m sorry. I got them mixed up. We are out of castings for Lap Dragons at this time. I apologize for getting your hopes up about rainbow laps.

I am so freaking happy there are Violet Flame lap dragons! I have been dreaming of them since the fledgling made his debut years ago. I go and drool at the store picture and feel all giddy inside ^_^ Thank you Windstone!
So hoping for one of these guys under my Christmas Tree but I don’t think my boyfriend loves me that much! LOL!

The Violet Flames are bright but that Rainbow OW is downright gaudy! Or maybe that should be “even brighter and more beautiful”? 😉
I have one of the old ones, I’ll have to see how big a difference there is looking at the photos. The one I have is lovely, I think he wears the color well for a battered old man! ^_^
