Hi there!!! I purchased a Lego set for my son’s birthday through e-bay. The seller shipped me the wrong item. I contacted them and they said they would refund the purchase and did not want to item shipped back. They said they had already processed the refund but I have not gotten any e-mails saying that said refund was being processed. This is the first time I have had this happen so about how long does it take for e-bay to process a refund without a return of the item? If there was supposed to be a notification of some sort, how do I check that the seller actually issued the refund like they said they did? I don’t like to be a pain but my son’s birthday is this coming Saturday and I would like to get him the set he wanted but kinda need the refund to do it….. :S Fun times. 😀
      Thank you!!!!

As long as you paid with paypal, you should have at least gotten an email that a refund was issued to you from the seller and is processing the same day the seller send the refund. If you haven’t got it yet I would contact the seller again.

I believe your Paypal account would show that a refund is “Pending” if it has not already gone through. If there is a refund, it should show in the Paypal record of transactions (on your Paypal Summary page) under the original purchase.

          For example:

          Lxxxxxx S. Cxxxxxxxxxxx
          Refunded – Payment

It will also tell you where the refund is going – credit card, Paypal balance, etc.

Yeah if you look on your paypal payment it should show right away if it was refunded so if it’s not showing, tell them you need it done right away to be able to use that money for your son’s birthday. Another question though, if they had the right set and sent you the wrong one, could you not just ask them to send you the correct one as a replacement?

Kim: it sounds like it was a case of wrong lables. So the other set was sent to one buyer and I got theirs. And the seller does not have another set. I will contact them again and I guess if it doesn’t go through I will open a claim. What a pain.

Receiving the wrong thing has happened to me a couple of times with Windstone test paints (bought from Windstone via ebay). On those occasions the other seller and I simply mailed the correct pieces to each other, using addresses supplied by Windstone, and we were reimbursed for the cost of shipping.

Maybe that only worked because of the close-knit Windstone group. However, it might be worth asking if this is an option.

Got it sorted out. Thanks everyone. 🙂 I have paypal question now…..I had a case earlier this year and it is now closed but I cannot find any record of it on paypal. Is that normal? There should be a few transactions where funds were removed, and then later, reimbursed and I cannot find it anywhere. Even under closed cases. Seems weird to me…..
